Technology Industry Background
The technology industry is known for the pace at which it redefines itself. Over the past 40 years, the industry has had four major redefinitions, all of which have had significant impact on data centers. Artificial intelligence (AI) appears to be the fifth major seismic shift for technology. In addition to the impact all of us see on our phones and computers, the impact to data center technologies is very large. The current implementation of AI is extremely computing resource intensive and every major tech company is building massive data centers in anticipation of AI finding its way into every application and every user interaction.
While every technology shift is unique, the technology business has a pattern to it that has never failed. It’s called the Hype Cycle.
